VARSITY DANCE

The varsity dance team is made up of the best dancer's from Seton High School. Originally formed in 1976 by the Sisters of Charity to build school spirit for Seton High School, they performed in parades and pep rallies. Since then they have grown into a competitive dance team, competing locally, regionally and nationally every year.

In the fall of 2011 the Varsity team again performed, along with the Junior High and Youth teams, at the Leukemia/Lymphoma Society Light the Night Walk at Sawyer Point in September. They were once again extremely honored to perform for this special occasion and many of the team members also participated in the walk itself. The Varsity Highlighters then kicked off a great 2011-12 competition season by placing 1st in Jazz and 2nd in Pom at Jamfest Louisville. In November they placed 2nd in both Pom and Jazz at the UDA Floyd Central Invitational and then took 1st in Pom and 2nd in Jazz at the Great Lakes Dance Championship in Michigan. The team then went on to compete at the UDA Winterfest Championship receiving 1st place in Pom and 1st in Jazz. In January, they competed at AmeriDance's Mount Notre Dame and Mystical Illusion Dance Classics receiving 1st place in both Pom & Jazz at both competitions and winning Grand Champion for Jazz and then Grand Champion for Pom respectively.

As always, the highlight of the season for the Varsity team was competing at the National Dance Team Championships in Orlando, Florida. This year the team competed in the super competitive Small Varsity Pom and Jazz divisions. The team was incredibly proud to finish in 1st place for the pom semi-final round. 2012 marked the first time that the Seton Varsity team made the finals in both the SMALL Pom and Jazz divisions finishing 7th in Pom and 13th in Jazz. Way to go ladies!
